Objective:
To design an evening which incorporates an interactive teambuilding activity and an awards dinner for 300 people in downtown Providence.
Program Overview:
Due to the size of this group, we were challenged with creating an event where all 300 attendees could interact and take part in a teambuilding activity, networking and an awards ceremony, while simultaneously creating the sense of a small personal gathering at a unique venue. The client wanted guests to experience the urban feel of downtown Providence while taking in the spectacular view of the Water Place Park and the riverfront. Being such a walk-able city, guests were escorted by Newport Hospitality staff strategically placed along the route from the hotel to Dave & Busters for activities and drinks then across the street to Waterplace Restaurant for dinner.
The first part of the evening was a unique teambuilding activity where the guests "escaped into play" with a private take-over at Dave & Buster's. Upon arrival they took part in The Great Race, a fun, energetic, fast-paced competition that guides teams on an interactive tour of the Million Dollar Midway. After The Great Race, the group enjoyed free time to play arcade games, network and socialize. The activity got the group pumped up for the second half of the evening – the awards dinner.
Waterplace Restaurant satisfied the need for a large unique space which offered an original style, three tiered venue indicative to the Renaissance City. By tenting the third level guests were able to take in the Providence skyline and get a firsthand look at the famed Water Fire location creating an active flow for the food stations/buffet dinner. Inside, the 2-story open floor plan and with the creative placement of flat-screens for live feed, the space allowed everyone to see the awards ceremony with the customized logo gobos projecting on the backdrop. After the brief award presentations, the entire party let loose with a high energy dance band. The company's executives joined the performers on stage at the end of the evening to showcase their own talents and entertain their guests.
Results:
We created a successful two tiered program that allowed the attendees a fun, interactive teambuilding activity and cocktail reception followed by awards, dinner and dancing in a unique three story venue on the Providence Riverfront.
